Art Rotterdam 2023

The 25th edition of “Art Rotterdam” brings together more than 100 international galleries, including Aluzeta and Diez from Spain, and presents the exhibition “Prospects” to promote emerging artists, including 5 Spanish artists awarded with the Mondriaan Fund.

Art Rotterdam is a leading meeting point in the Netherlands for contemporary art. More than 100 galleries from different countries present new artistic trends to the Dutch market.

From Spain, the gallery Aluzeta, with offices in Barcelona and Madrid, has been present. For this edition, they have presented a dialogue on truth and authenticity through the works of artists Hugo Alonso, Jordi Alcaraz, Sune Christiansen and Mirco Marchelli. Also, the Diez gallery in Amsterdam, founded in 2022 by Diego Diez, dedicated a show to the painter Jochem Mestriner.

Prospects

Art Rotterdam also annually hosts the Prospects exhibition, organized by Mondriaan Funds to boost the visibility of the 86 emerging artists awarded in the previous year. The exhibition gives the award winners the opportunity to come into contact with collectors and the Dutch art circuit.

Five Spanish artists living in the Netherlands participated in Prospects: Carmen Roca Igual (1998), Rafael Romero Peña (1988), Carmen Dusmet Carrasco (1991), María Nolla Mateos (1995) and Mónica Mays (1990), who has won the NN Art Award 2024.
